Twitter is implementing several changes in its platform, and several updates to TweetDeck appear to be part of the roadmap. The social media giant confirmed on Tuesday that it is starting to test a new version of the official Twitter dashboard to select users in certain regions.
The official Twitter page for TweetDeck has unveiled a single image to preview some of the design changes that could become official features in an upcoming version of the social media dashboard. The announcement indicates that the test is only available to ”a limited number of accounts” in the United States, Canada, and Australia at this point.
However, app researcher Jane Manchun Wong has already offered a way for Twitter users to access the new features. Wong also provided the trick to opt-out of the in-testing version of TweetDeck.

Based on replies to Wong’s post, the TweetDeck update could allow users to add tweet threads as one of the columns on their dashboard. Several users have reported that the Activity page has apparently been removed as one of the column options, but it remains to be seen if this change will be carried over to the official version of the TweetDeck update. The other pages that can be made into separate columns include List, Scheduled Tweets, Bookmarks, Notifications, Explore, Search, Drafts, Home Timeline, Topic, and Your Profile.
Twitter product lead Kayvon Beykpour confirmed that the future TweetDeck update would bring a full Tweet Composer and new column types. The test also covers new advanced search features and new options to organize columns.
Meanwhile, Twitter users who will opt in to test the new TweetDeck features will be able to migrate their saved searches, lists, and profile columns from the old to the new version of the dashboard. “If you switch between the current and preview versions of TweetDeck, changes you make in one version will not carry over to the other,” Twitter added in an FAQ page.
The current TweetDeck testing is not available on mobile and requires a viewport with more than 500px x 500px resolution. “If your browser window is below 500 px in width and height, you'll see a notification that TweetDeck is not available on a mobile device, and you won't be able to access TweetDeck Preview,” Twitter explained.
