U.S. President Donald Trump is reportedly giving stronger consideration to restarting major combat operations against Iran as diplomatic efforts and nuclear negotiations continue to stall. According to a CNN report released Monday evening, Trump has become increasingly frustrated with the prolonged closure of the Strait of Hormuz and what he views as divisions within Iran’s leadership that are slowing progress in talks.

Sources familiar with the matter told CNN that the Trump administration sees little movement toward a peaceful resolution, especially as tensions in the Middle East continue to rise. However, the report noted that Trump is not expected to make any final decision regarding military action before his scheduled trip to China later this week.

The latest development comes after Trump rejected Iran’s response to a proposed 14-point peace agreement earlier this week. He also warned that the current ceasefire with Tehran was on “major life support,” signaling growing concern over the stability of U.S.-Iran relations.

Iran appeared unfazed by Trump’s remarks. Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei stated that Tehran was “not concerned with the satisfaction of others,” downplaying the rejection of the proposal.

Meanwhile, tensions surrounding the Strait of Hormuz remain high. Iran has demanded that the United States lift its naval blockade before any further nuclear negotiations can move forward. The strategic waterway remains a major global energy shipping route, making the ongoing standoff a serious concern for oil markets and international trade.

Trump has repeatedly threatened additional military strikes targeting Iran’s energy infrastructure but has not yet authorized new attacks. On Monday, he confirmed he was considering reviving “Project Freedom,” a military operation designed to restore commercial shipping access through the Strait of Hormuz after renewed clashes with Iran earlier this month.
