BOSTON, July 06, 2017 -- Marcia Wagner, the Managing Director of The Wagner Law Group, widely recognized as the country’s top ERISA and employee benefits law firm, is proud to announce that immigration attorney Melissa McNamee will join the firm as a partner, effective as of July 10, 2017. “The expansion of our practice into immigration law goes hand-in-hand with our robust employment law practice, and Melissa brings the high level of expertise and professionalism for which our firm has become well known,” says Ms. Wagner.
Ms. McNamee has spent the last decade working exclusively in the area of immigration law, focusing on business and family immigration, and is fluent in Spanish and Portuguese. Her immigration practice includes a focus on PERM Labor Certification, H-1B, L-1 A/B, TN, EB-1 International Executive or Manager, EB-1 Outstanding Researcher, EB-1 Extraordinary Ability (artists, musicians, engineers), EB-2 and EB-3 categories, waivers, family-based immigration, naturalization and troubleshooting of complex immigration cases. Prior to joining The Wagner Law Group, Ms. McNamee ran a solo law practice based in Massachusetts and Florida. She also served as In-House Corporate Counsel to Novell, Inc., where she was responsible for the inbound and outbound transfer of over 200 employees per year, immigration issues in relation to mergers and acquisitions and a budget of $1 million. Additionally, Ms. McNamee has counseled Fortune 500 clients and tier-one universities.
Melissa also serves as a legal educator and has hosted University of Miami Law students in firm internships since August 2007. She taught PERM Labor Certification at Florida International University Law School, Temporary Protected Status at University of Miami Law School’s award winning Haitian TPS clinic program, and Immigration Options for Undocumented Clients at the Health Rights Clinic.
Ms. McNamee earned her Bachelor of Arts degree with a double major in Political Science & International Relations from Boston University, cum laude, in 2000. In 2003, University of Massachusetts, Boston awarded her a Master of Science degree in Public Affairs, cum laude, with full tuition stipend, and in 2006 she graduated from Suffolk University Law School, Boston, Massachusetts with a Juris Doctor degree.
