If you follow a vegan diet, you are likely aware of how difficult it can be to find plant based items at most popular fast food restaurants across the country. Whether you’re following a plant based diet for weight management after a procedure at RCMC Medical Center or a lifelong vegan who has missed out on the taste of a cheap fast food meal until now, veganism can be hard to follow when you’re on the go and need a quick meal. As veganism has become more popular in the United States, many fast food restaurants such as Burger King and KFC have launched plant based menu items to give vegan customers more options.
Here are 5 of the best vegan options available at fast food restaurants.
Taco Bell
Many people consider Taco Bell to be the best fast food restaurant due to their late hours and cheap menu. Taco Bell is also a favorite for vegans and vegetarians, who can easily substitute meat and dairy products in their tacos or burritos. New additions to the menu such as the spicy potato soft taco are completely vegan with no modifications, and are available on the value menu for just $1!
Burger King
One of the nation’s leading fast food chains was also the first to offer Impossible plant based “meat” permanently across all locations. The Impossible Whopper (without mayonnaise) is completely vegan. Plus, unlike some fast food restaurants who use the same contaminated fryers for meat and fries alike, Burger King’s fries are vegan as well.
Del Taco
Similar to Taco Bell, Del Taco makes it easy for customers to substitute meat for beans or potatoes in their world famous tacos. One area in which they are beating their competitors, however, is in their permanent addition of Beyond Meat vegan crumbles to the menu.
Dunkin’
Dunkin’ offers an extensive menu of plant based milks to add to any coffee drinks. Now, all locations across the United States offer Beyond sausages, as well as several vegan bagels such as cinnamon raisin and everything bagels.
KFC
One of the first fast food restaurants to offer a vegan chicken substitute on a nationwide scale, KFC now offers Impossible fried “chicken.” These nuggets are crispy, greasy, and taste just like the real thing. Their fries are vegan as well, but you could get a side of their famous mashed potatoes (with no gravy) to switch things up.
