‘Timeless’ Season 1, Episode 8 Spoilers: “Space Race” – Flynn Attempts to Erase Historical Moon Landing; Abigail Spencer Talks Working on Series

Abigail Spencers stars as Lucy on NBC's 'Timeless'

‘Timeless’ season 1’s episode 8, entitled “Space Race”, will follow Lucy, Rufus, and Wyatt as they race against time to stop Flynn from erasing the historical moon landing and save the astronauts. Meanwhile, Abigail Spencer expressed her love for the series as well as for period pieces during a recent interview.

The synopsis for “Space Race” posted on Cartermatt reads, “As the nation waits to hear the fate of the astronauts of Apollo 11, Flynn (Goran Visnjic) arrives near mission control, intending to rewrite the events of that momentous day.

Hot on his trail, Lucy (Abigail Spencer), Wyatt (Matt Lanter), and Rufus (Malcolm Barrett ) need to be bolder than ever and call upon one of history’s unsung heroes if they’re going to have a shot at setting things right.”

The promo opened with the team finding themselves in a more recent time in history following their debacle in the preceding episode, which was set in 1754 during the chaotic French and Indian War. Lucy and Wyatt are in mission control as they watched the U.S. astronauts land on the moon for the very first time. Before one of the astronauts could take his first lunar steps, the entire scene on the moon then disappears.

It is revealed that mission control’s systems are going haywire and it is up to the three of them to stop the rogue time traveler Flynn from erasing one of the most important events in history.

When Wyatt asks, “How bad is all this?” Rufus replies, “Armstrong and Aldrin.” Lucy concludes, “Ran out of oxygen and died there.” The three then proceed to race against time to save the astronauts. Rufus threatens people at gunpoint by the end of the promo saying, “Those astronauts are coming back home.”

Meanwhile, Abigail Spencer shared her enthusiasm for starring in the science-fiction and drama series as college history professor Lucy. According to UPI, she said, "I just wanted to do something really, really different than I had been doing and it could not get more different -- on an exterior level anyway."

She continued, "One of the big selling points, too, was you will never be bored. I remember [series co-creator] Eric [Kripke] said in the room: 'You will never be bored. We are making a new movie every week.' And he already knew of my deep love of historical costuming and historical hair and makeup and I do love period pieces to begin with, so it was a good match for me. And to do something more broad and something more family friendly. I hadn't really gotten to do anything I thought my 8-year-old would be interested in. And, so, now I get to be a part of something like that."

‘Timeless’ season 1’s episode 8, entitled “Space Race”, is scheduled to air on NBC on November 28, 2016. It was directed by John Terlesky and written by Anslem Richardson. It will be followed by episode 9, entitled "Last Ride of Bonnie & Clyde", scheduled for December 5.
