‘Timeless’ Season 1, Episode 16 Spoilers: “The Red Scare” - Trio Chases Flynn to 1950s Washington; Someone’s Life in Grave Danger

‘Timeless’ season 1’s episode 16, “The Red Scare,” is set to follow Lucy, Rufus, and Wyatt as they chase the series’ main antagonist Flynn all the way to Washington D.C. It is revealed that someone’s life may be in grave danger as the trio attempts to complete their mission.

The synopsis for “The Red Scare” posted on TV Guide reads, “A life is on the line as the team chases Flynn (Goran Visnjic) to Washington, D.C., during the Red Scare of the 1950s in the Season 1 finale. Also: The trio attempt to take down Rittenhouse once and for all; and Lucy (Abigail Spencer) wagers the ultimate sacrifice to save history.”

It seems that the season finale will be an exciting, action-packed one! Lucy, Rufus (Malcolm Barett), and Wyatt (Matt Lanter) will find themselves in Washington, D.C. as they continue their race to subdue Flynn across history. The Red Scare in the United States, otherwise known as the First Red Scare, was the widespread fear attributed to the rise of anarchy and Bolshevism in the early 20th century.

The event had its origins from the Russian Revolution as well as the effects of World War I. The American government grew paranoid over the threat of the Communist revolution, which was fueled by general unrest and anarchist attacks that included bombings, unwarranted arrests, and growing anti-immigration measures.

The trio will attempt to defeat the Rittenhouse organization once and for all in the upcoming episode as they are forced to become fugitives. The time-traveling team will be mistaken as communist spies, and one of them will be in grave danger of losing their life.

During an interview with Entertainment Weekly, executive producers Eric Kripke and Shawn Ryan hinted at the details for episode 16. They said, “A deadly chess game begins when Rittenhouse exerts their control over Connor Mason, and our team is ultimately forced to become fugitives… So they have to stop Flynn, stop Rittenhouse, clear their names and save history. No easy task, as all of our storylines and conflicts come to a shocking head.”

‘Timeless’ season 1’s episode 16, “The Red Scare,” is scheduled to air on NBC on February 20, 2017. It is expected to be the season’s final episode.
