‘Thor: Ragnarok’ actor Tom Hiddleston reportedly got a costume upgrade as seen in newly leaked behind-the-scenes photographs snapped in Australia. It was also speculated that the upcoming film will be connected to ‘Doctor Strange’.
According to MovieWeb, filming for Taika Waititi’s upcoming installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s (MCU) ‘Thor’ cinematic series began last July 2016 at the Village Roadshow Studios in Oxenford, Australia. Behind-the-scenes images from the filming set were captured through the months of production.
Lead actors Tom Hiddleston and Chris Hemsworth were previously seen walking around on set but their secret costumes were draped in cloaks. However, new images were recently leaked from the Queensland filming set.
According to The Mary Sue, a fan managed to take self-portraits with the stars on-set and posted these on Twitter. The photographs had since been deleted from the account but not fast enough to stop the images from being spread online.
Although all in all, Hiddleston’s costume didn’t appear wholly different from his last appearance as Loki in ‘Thor: The Dark World’. However, his dark green costume looked more understated – less royal, more casual – compared to previous versions of the suit. It didn’t contain the ornate gold crescent and high collar that represented his battle armor.
It remains unclear how much Loki will feature in the film. Meanwhile, previous photographs showed Anthony Hopkins’ Odin in less than regal garb. He was seen on the filming set looking very much like a scruffy hobo and less like a king of Asgard.
Although the new film’s plot is still kept under wraps, it was revealed that the film will follow a Planet Hulk storyline from the original comic books. Joining Hiddleston, Hopkins and Hemsworth in the cast are Mark Ruffalo, Jaimie Alexander, Idris Elba, Karl Urban, Cate Blanchett, Tessa Thompson, and Jeff Goldblum.
It was recently speculated that Waititi’s film will somehow link up with Scott Derrickson’s upcoming ‘Doctor Strange’ starring Benedict Cumberbatch in the lead role.
According to Hit Fix, the rumor began when a photograph was snapped of Hemsworth’s Thor holding a business card. The photograph was linked to an image in the original comic books of a business card with Dr. Stephen Strange’s New York address on it. It was suggested that Cumberbatch’s Sorcerer Supreme may be making an appearance in the upcoming film.
‘Thor: Ragnarok’ is an upcoming action-adventure and fantasy film directed by Taika Waititi and produced by Kevin Feige. It is the sequel to ‘Thor: The Dark World’ and is the 17th installment in the MCU. It is produced by Marvel Studios and distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures.
The film is scheduled to be released on November 3, 2017.
