“The Winds of Winter” has long been awaited by fans ever since the “A Dance With Dragons” was published seven years ago. Hardcore followers of “A Song of Ice and Fire” series have been impatiently waiting for the sixth installment of the saga and are vexed that the TV adaptation has now overtaken the story.
The sixth season of “Game of Thrones” revealed a lot of what’s going to take place in “Winds of Winter,” although there are other avenues that haven’t been addressed by the show. One of these is the fate of Lady Stoneheart, the resurrected version of Caitlyn Stark.
In the books, Caitlyn has been revived by the Brother Without Banners when Beric Dondarrion passed down his gift to the previously deceased character. The show opted to not include Stoneheart to avoid further complicating the plotline and adding more confusion to show watchers. As such, the character’s story will only be explained in “The Winds of Winter” and “Dreams of Spring” when it’s finally released.
Unfortunately, George R.R. Martin is taking a long time to finish both books as he’s involved with a lot of projects at the moment including the upcoming spinoffs of his best-selling novels. But the author did assure in his recent blog post that he isn’t sitting idly and neglecting “The Winds of Winter.”
“Believe it or not, I am working hard on a lot of things (yes, including WINDS), even though I am not allowed to talk about most of them,” Martin revealed. “Eventually, I hope, you’ll all be able to enjoy the fruits of my labors. I hope…” In the past, the author has been deeply offended by some of his fans who are worried about him passing away before he could finish “The Winds of Winter” and “A Dream of Spring.”
But that doesn’t seem to stop Martin from trying to finish his work. After all, even though he’s taking his time in completing “The Winds of Winter,” he still feels obligated to finish the books for those who have been supporting him throughout his career.
Right now, there’s still no news when “The Winds of Winter” will be released but fans are hoping it would hit the shelves before the sixth season of “Game of Thrones” airs. Hopefully, Martin will catch some heavy gale on his sails and wrap up the story of book six sometime in the next eight months.
