One of the latest and good news fans received about “The Winds of Winter” is that George R. R. Martin has gone to his “fortress of solitude” to write the book. This is a positive update as reports point out this mystery location has helped the author finish a couple of books before.
The official release of “Fire and Blood” last November paved way for Martin to finally focus on finishing “The Winds of Winter.” After admitting that he had been struggling with the sixth “A Song of Ice and Fire” saga, Martin went on to confirm it is now his top priority.
A few weeks later, Martin told his fans last December through his Not a Blog page that he was “back in [his] fortress of solitude, and back in Westeros.” That is, obviously, his creative way of saying he has started tackling the remaining work for “The Winds of Winter.”
The blog site Wars and Politics of Ice and Fire recalled that this remote cabin somewhere in Santa Fe has been a helpful location for Martin. It is the same place where he spent the last month of work for “A Dance with Dragons.” The same report suggested that the “fortress of solitude” seemingly helped the author finished “Fire and Blood” sooner than expected. Now, hopes are up that the place will have the same effect for “The Winds of Winter.”
During the course of the press junket for “Fire and Blood,” Martin’s interview has naturally included the discussion of “The Winds of Winter.” So new statements and update last November and December have been plenty. But there has been no new information about the progress of Martin’s work and the release date of the sixth book is still unknown.
Many are speculating that “The Winds of Winter” has a bigger chance of getting released this year but it is unlikely happening before the final season of “Game of Thrones” is out. Overall, Martin promised his loyal fans, “It won’t be tomorrow, and it won’t be next week, but you will get the end of ‘A SONG OF ICE AND FIRE.’”
