“The Winds of Winter” is expected to be published next year and this was revealed by George RR Martin himself. The sixth book of the ”A Song of Ice and Fire” series finally has a due date, and fans are excited.
Martin made the announcement in an unexpected fashion, and he may have been surprised as well when he declared the deadline for “The Winds of Winter.” Firstly, he previously said that he is refraining from giving dates anymore after more than three missed publishing dates in the last eight years. Thus, his declaration came as a surprise, and what made him do this was an advertisement!
Last week, New Zealand Air released an ad that invited “The Wind of Winter” author to visit NZ. in the clip, they described the scenery and how the tranquil country will be the perfect place for Martin to finish the book that he has been writing for a long time already. The airline then went on to offer free tickets so he can finish “TWOW.”
In the clip, the voice over told Martin, “We’ve noticed that between red carpets and talk show interviews you’re having a bit of trouble finishing your next ‘Game of Thrones’ book, ‘The Winds of Winter.’ The novel that the world is let’s face it mate, absolutely fanging for now more than ever.”
The airline proceeded to invite the author to come to New Zealand by saying, “So how are you meant to be creative when you’re probably as nervous as a Stark with a wedding invite? Fortunately, we have the perfect solution - an epic trip to New Zealand on us.”
Martin responded, and he posted his reply on his Not a Blog web page and he did more than sending his “thanks” to New Zealand Air, but the ad got the author to reveal he is set to release “The Winds of Winter” in 2020. To make everyone believe him this time, he even challenged people to jail him if he is unable to publish the book by then.
Finally, the expected due date for “The Winds of Winter” is July 2020 as he is actually set to visit New Zealand on July 29, 2020, for the World Science Fiction Convention. He might announce the novel through this event.
