“The Walking Dead” Season 9 is easily one of the most highly anticipated TV series returns and a large part of this is due to the hope that the show has gotten better. Based on reactions from early screenings, it seems the folks behind the zombie drama have hit a home run. Claims that “The Walking Dead” Season 9 is a reboot have also been rebutted by showrunner Angela Kang.
It’s no secret that the last two seasons of “The Walking Dead” have been its worst. This resulted in falling ratings and scathing remarks from both critics and viewers. However, as a recent Forbes piece notes, “The Walking Dead” Season 9 has seemingly turned things around. This is only based on the first three episodes that were shown during an advance premiere, though.
The report only featured a barebones preview of what the episodes are about, but it was clear that the author Erki Kain was impressed with “The Walking Dead” Season 9, so far. Considering that he has been a fierce critic of the show’s last two seasons, his positive reception of the new season should help alleviate fan concerns.
It would also appear that “The Walking Dead” Season 9 takes place a year or so since the events of the previous season. Tension is still palpable among the different groups, and even within the show’s main characters.
In response to those who see “The Walking Dead” Season 9 as a reboot of the series, showrunner Angela Kang denies that this is the case, Metro reports. According to her, the show is still what it has always been. She also revealed that there are plans for the return of Lauren Cohen as Maggie once she leaves the show. No word as of yet if Andrew Lincoln’s Rick will receive the same treatment.
“The Walking Dead” Season 9 will premiere on Oct. 7. Fans will not want to miss the revival of the zombie series.
