‘The Walking Dead’ Season 9 Air Date Spoilers: The Whisperers Arrive; Will Rick Grimes Die in Their Hands?

“The Walking Dead” season 9 will finally reveal the Whisperers and showrunner Angela Kang said that they are not a friendly group. Rather, they are a threat to the survivors that Rick Grimes and his allies have to battle with at some point.

Who Are the Whisperers?

The Whisperers are survivors who hide by wearing the skin of the walkers. This method allows them to walk alongside and be in the midst of the zombies.

As per TV Guide, the Whisperers were first seen in “The Walking Dead” comics’ Issue 130. They do not just cover themselves with blood but use the walkers’ skin so they can survive. This group is almost like real zombies because they have also adapted their lifestyle like rummaging among the undead.

The newcomers are called the Whisperers because some people in Rick’s group returned to the camp one day and related that they heard some zombies whispering. In truth, these are just the survivors who are living among the walkers -- they whisper to talk to their group mates since they cannot do it normally or they will get caught.

The Whisperers have a leader called Alpha. In “The Walking Dead” season 9, Samantha Morton will play this role.

Talking about the new enemies that will be introduced in the upcoming installment, Newsweek quoted showrunner Angela Kang as saying, “We’ll go into a really great storyline that people are anticipating, called the Whisperers on Talking Dead.”

She added, “If you’re a fan of the comic you know exactly what that means, although the way we do it may not be exactly the way it goes in the comic.”

Rick Grimes’s Death

As it was confirmed that the Whisperers are coming, and they were described as Rick Grimes's (Andrew Lincoln) most formidable foe in “The Walking Dead” season 9, does it mean that he will die in their hands?

Lincoln is leaving the show, and as EconoTimes reported, his character as Rick Grimes will only appear until the end of the 90-minute pilot episode. There are many speculations as to how the actor will exit the show, but since the Whisperers are arriving and Rick has to face them, one of the most discussed predictions is that he will meet his end by dying in their hands. Well, fans have to wait for its premiere to know the exact answer.
