More and more spoilers and plot leaks hint at “The Walking Dead” season 9 being a roller coaster of emotions for its viewers. The confirmed exit of Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) is obviously going to be a series turning point. But, on the other hand, happy times are in order as a major wedding is rumored to happen.
With TV shows as big as “The Walking Dead,” the leaking of plot information has become a normal thing no matter how the cast members are against it. “The Walking Dead” season 9 is not safe from these incidents.
Recently, a rumor circulated within The Spoiling Dead online community suggesting that “The Walking Dead” season 9 is going to feature one major wedding. One post reads (via Forbes), “Information has come to light from multiple sources that wedding bells will be ringing in season 9. Carol (Melissa McBride) and Ezekiel (Khary Payton) are getting hitched!”
The post further claimed that Carol and Ezekiel’s marriage will be confirmed in the earlier part of “The Walking Dead” season 9 — episode 6 or 7. However, the online leak is quite uncertain about several details. It suggests that the producers and writers might not even include a ceremony in the plot while there is also a chance that these characters are going on a honeymoon.
In the end, the source reminded fellow fans to take this arc “with a grain of salt” until more information and insiders can confirm Carol and Ezekiel’s wedding in “The Walking Dead” season 9. The wedding is likely on the table. But it is not strange for TV shows to film a certain sequence only to leave it out in the final cut.
On the other hand, another product of spoilers and leaked information is Rick Grimes’ exit in “The Walking Dead” season 9. After several reports revealed this major turning point, cast and crew were forced to prematurely confirm this plot detail. But what remains a mystery now is how Rick will leave the small screen.
It is safe to say that the easier way is killing the character. However, the series has already demonstrated that death is not the only option — case in point: Morgan (Lennie James). And Andrew Lincoln suggested that this could also be a possibility for Rick in “The Walking Dead” season 9.
“Lennie James is a perfect example of leaving without dying and doing rather well on it,” Lincoln said during SDCC last month. “Obviously I'm not going to tell you which way [Rick goes out]... I mean, I'd prefer the Lennie James of it all.”
Whichever way Rick is leaving in “The Walking Dead” season 9, showrunner Angela Kang promised that they have treated it with respect for the character and for the fans. “The Walking Dead” returns on Sunday, Oct. 7, at 9 p.m. ET on AMC.
