When “The Walking Dead” ended with the season 6 finale, three of the series’ most beloved characters were in peril courtesy of the most recent major antagonist Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan). Glenn (Steven Yeun) was Negan’s victim in the comic books, so he is considered the most likely character that fans will be saying goodbye to. However, it seems that Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) is not safe either, at least according to the words of comic book creator Robert Kirkman himself.
Comicbook.com recently reported that during a recent Reddit AMA, a user asked Kirkman if Rick was going to die. Kirkman responded that he eventually would.
Kirkman wasn’t clear as to when the character would die however, or even how he would die. There’s always the possibility that Kirkman was speaking in a more philosophical sense, meaning that all the characters in the TV series and comic books are human and would thus someday die.
Considering the general theme of both the comic books and the TV series though, the likelihood of the protagonist dying a horrible death is quite real. This revelation has gotten fans even more excited to see exactly what will happen in the next season. Will Rick die or will Glenn?
A recent report by TMZ regarding the heroic gestures of Norman Reedus who plays Daryl and Steven Yeun when they happened on a car accident is being taken as a hint that both characters were spared Negan’s bludgeoning after all. As fans of the show would already know by now though, nothing is ever certain where “TWD” is concerned.
Meanwhile, the premiere for “The Walking Dead” season 7 has not yet been officially revealed, but this hasn’t prevented fans from speculating. Traditionally, “TWD” seasons premiered on the Sunday before or during Comic Con in New York. As such, Oct. 9, 2016 will likely be the date to watch for the fans.
