‘The Walking Dead’ Season 7, Episode 9 Spoilers: "Rock in the Road" – Rick Introduced to New Community as he Prepares for War Against Negan

‘The Walking Dead’ season 7’s episode 9, titled "Rock in the Road," is set to feature Rick and his allies as they are introduced to a new community of survivors that may become their allies in the impending war against Negan.

The brief synopsis for “Rock in the Road” posted on TV Guide reads, “Rick (Andrew Lincoln) and the group are led to a new community, where they are introduced to its inhabitants and ruler; and a familiar face resurfaces.”

One of television’s most successful series to date is set to make its return on AMC on February 12. The first half of season 7 showcased Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) terrorizing Alexandria and other communities, leaving a trail of death and destruction in his wake. It was previously reported that the season’s second half will take on an entirely more optimistic turn for Rick and his crew as they prepare for revenge against Negan and his equally notorious Saviors.

The official synopsis for season 7B posted on Comicbook.com hinted at an impending war between Rick and Negan. It seems that Rick will rally up supporters from various communities including the Kingdom and Hilltop as well as collect as much weapons and supplies that they may need. It will also introduce new characters and the feature the return of familiar faces.

An excerpt from the synopsis reads, “Rick’s group will find out yet again that the world isn’t what they thought it was. It’s much bigger than anything they’ve seen so far. While they have a singular purpose - to defeat Negan - it won’t come easy. More importantly, victory will require more than Alexandria. They need the numbers of the Kingdom and the Hilltop, but, similar to how Rick felt, Ezekiel (Khary Payton) and Gregory (Xander Berkeley) do not want bloodshed. To convince them otherwise will take more than speeches. The lengths Rick and the group will have to go to in order to find weapons, food and new fighters is nothing short of remarkable.”

It seems that the upcoming episode will start off on the right foot as Rick and his group are introduced to a new community of survivors that may very well become allies in their war against Negan.

‘The Walking Dead’ season 7’s episode 9, titled "Rock in the Road," is scheduled to air on AMC on February 12, 2017. It was directed by Greg Nicotero and written by Angela Kang. It will be followed by episode 10, titled "New Best Friends," scheduled for February 19.
