Fans of the life simulation video game should start accepting the obvious truth that there will not be any substantial announcements to be made for "The Sims 5” this year. However, the gameplay updates released for “The Sims 4” gives many clues on what players should expect on the next main title release.

The Sims 5’ gameplay: Possible upgrades available on day 1

It would take more than just recycled content to wow the gaming fans once EA decides to announce “The Sims 5.” However, the video game company is rarely discussing its plans for the franchise’s future. Luckily, the developers have recently launched some series-first features on “The Sims 4” that are almost certainly going to be featured again starting on the first day of a new game.

When “The Sims 4” was announced five years ago, EA debuted a couple of new features that helped make this title a next-generation release. That included major changes like Create a Sim and buy/build modes. This year, developers also made the Create a Sim activity more interactive by allowing players to add backstories to the Sims they are making. Also, in a free update, EA and Maxis finally heeded fans’ requests by adding the ability to customize staircases. These changes are so significant for the history of the game, and it would not make sense not to include them in “The Sims 5.”

The obvious challenge for developers right now is to come up with more impressive changes and upgrades for “The Sims 5” that will be available on the base game and on day 1. This leads to another big question about the next game: when is it getting released?

The Sims 5’ release date: EA still mum on next game’s development and launch

No matter how much fans want to hear anything about “The Sims 5,” EA remains strangely quiet about their plans. It could mean several things like the game is simply not in development yet. It is also possible that the company has many content to push for “The Sims 4,” and they do not want to distract the fans by constantly talking about the next title.
