The first season of “The Promised Neverland” was received well by anime fans. And with enough manga material to adapt into anime, the announcement of “The Promised Neverland” season 2 arrived as soon as the first series installment concluded.
“The Promised Neverland” season 2 official update, possible release date
While the status of “The Promised Neverland” season 2 is confirmed, fans remain clueless on its release date. Most viewers are likely hoping not to wait too long to see where Emma and Ray’s group of escapees go next. But avid fans of anime series know that a hiatus before a new season begins can last for around a year.
Luckily, fans looking forward to “The Promised Neverland” season 2 received an official update from series director Mamoru Kanbe during his appearance at a special Anime Expo 2019 panel discussion last week. Per ComicBook’s report, Kanbe has confirmed that the making of the new season has already started. Aside from Kanbe, an Aniplex producer reiterated the production is on a roll and the anime cast is excited for fans to see the new episodes.
Kanbe also admitted that the production team is facing some challenging aspects in making “The Promised Neverland” season 2. However, it appears in the report that the 2020 release date window is intact that could mean the producers have not encountered issues, so far, that could lead to a major delay.
The best that fans could hope is for “The Promised Neverland” season 2 to maintain the first season’s early-in-the-year release date. But since no specific announcements were made yet, viewers should also be open to seeing the anime return possibly in summer or fall of 2020 as well.
“The Promised Neverland” season 2 plot: What to expect
The first season showed how Emma’s — even without enormous physical strength, superhero power, magic, and spell — was able to lead a group of her siblings to escape Grace Field House. The orphanage is actually a farm for children grown to become food for monsters. Kanbe teased that “The Promised Neverland” season 2 will show Emma facing more challenges.
Emma has to make sure the first group that escaped from the orphanage can find a safe place to stay in the outside world in “The Promised Neverland” season 2. Meanwhile, she also made a promise to come back to Grace Field House and lead the other kids to freedom.
