Seth MacFarlane's sc-fi comedy romp's first season may have been a quick 12-episode journey through the world they created, but it seems that the show's performance merited the renewal of the series. With “The Orville” season 2 ready to debut with a two-hour season premiere episode by the year's end, fans may have been wondering since last year what the upcoming season has in store for 2019.
Fox recently released two official preview trailers for “The Orville” season 2. In the first trailer, fans are treated to scenes of what seems to be a show that is putting more of its focus on the action-drama component of the sci-fi formula. While the show's comedy is apparent in some scenes in the first preview trailer, it does not seem as overt as the comedy spread throughout the show's first season.
The second “The Orville” season 2 preview trailer brings back hints about some of the humor that the show is known for. The second trailer puts a focus on the crew of the Orville sharing some moments of unmentioned comedy. Still, similar to the first preview trailer, the second “The Orville” season 2 trailer is particularly bare-bones regarding the overall plot that fans can expect from the upcoming installment.
Some of the more standout scenes in the “The Orville” season 2 preview trailers include what appears to be missions on Bortus's home planet, Moclus. Both trailers also feature the Krill as the upcoming season's main antagonists as well as a mysterious figure that seems to be important to the potential death of an unidentified crew member in a space suit.
Despite the lack of concrete teasers from the preview trailers, Fans have the pleasure of welcoming the new year and the upcoming installment with the show's two-hour special season premiere. Fans looking forward to rediscovering the crew members of the Orville and their adventures can catch “The Orville” season 2 when it debuts on Dec. 30.
