‘The Magicians’ season 2’s episode 9, titled “Lesser Evils,” will follow Margo and Eliot as they head to battle to protect Fillory. Meanwhile, Julia continues her quest without Shade and may become more dangerous than ever.
The brief synopsis posted on TV Guide reads, “Julia (Stella Maeve) recklessly continues with her quest, while Eliot (Hale Appleman) and Margo (Summer Bishil) step up to protect Fillory.”
It seems that the High King and Queen of Fillory will be heading to the battlefield to face off against Loria in the upcoming season. Things between Loria and Fillory have tensed up ever since Prince Ess (Arlen Escarpeta) paid a visit and demanded for Queen Margo's hand in marriage.
In episode 9’s sneak peak, Margo and Eliot are discussing solutions to the realm’s many issues in the throne room with some advisers. Suddenly, the lights begin to flicker and they are told that they need to fix the wellspring as soon as possible. Margo says, “One problem at a time, okay? Our soldiers are deserting us in protest thanks to Julia committing tree genocide.”
Eliot then asks how they can fight a war without an army to which he is told that he could engage in one-on-one combat with the rival monarch. He is warned that no king has ever volunteered for such an alternative but Eliot is convinced enough to push through with the plan.
The photographs posted on TV Fanatic shows Eliot and Margot marching towards the battlefield as they prepare for war. In one image, Eliot confronts the King of Loria and the two are in full battle stance with their swords. It is unknown whether Eliot will resort to magic when things get desperate.
It was revealed that Margo will make a costly bargain to protect Eliot as he risks his life for the sake of the kingdom.
Meanwhile, Julia will continue with her mission without Shade. During an interview with Blastr, Maeve was asked about what would become of Julia without her Shade.
When asked if the character will become more dangerous, Maeve replied, “I think in order to be evolved human beings, we all need empathy. Sera Gamble, our showrunner, has spoken about what a common thread among serial killers is a lack of empathy. Or people who can't associate with society. With the lack of empathy of not having a shade? She's unknowingly dangerous.”
The actress also addressed rumors about Julia becoming a villain. When asked about the possible turn of events, Maeve said, “Umm … honestly, it could be interesting. But I'm leaning more towards, as in the books, turning into a goddess and speaking to animals. I am going towards the white light. But it was interesting seeing The Beast and Julia in a partnership… And it's always fun to play the bad guy.”
‘The Magicians’ season 2’s episode 9, titled “Lesser Evils,” is schedule to air on Syfy on March 22, 2017. It will be followed by episode 10, tilted "The Girl Who Told Time," scheduled to be released on March 29.
