It took a long time but news about “The Last Kingdom” Season 3 has finally started hitting the public. This historical series of swords and axes will be arriving on Netflix soon and a first look of the upcoming season was just released. Aside from the image, though, there remains a lot of questions about the show that needs answers. For example, what’s up with the actor playing Ragnar the Younger?
Through the official “The Last Kingdom” Twitter account, the first image of “The Last Kingdom” Season 3 was shared with fans. The photo features Uhtred of Bebbanburg (Alexander Dreymon) astride a black horse in a snowy shot, seemingly looking back at something or someone.

“Here it is - your official first look image of Alexander Dreymon as Uhtred in season 3. Gather the fyrd... Season 3 is coming!” the tweet’s caption reads.
Those who have read “The Saxon Stories” by Bernard Cornwell will likely already have some ideas as to what this shot is all about. For those who have yet to flick through the pages, the series is similar to “Game of Thrones” in terms of vibe. In “The Last Kingdom” Season 3, for example, the narrative will closely follow the events in books five and six titled “The Burning Land” and “Death of Kings,” respectively.
In “The Last Kingdom” Season 3, Ragnar the Younger will also have a much bigger role to play than he did in the show’s first two seasons. As of now, few viewers will likely know who he is.
Ragnar will be played by Norwegian actor Tobias Santelmann and he actually has a few films under his belt. As for his character Ragnar, he is basically Uhtred’s brother and will have a major role to play in “The Last Kingdom” Season 3. According to the actor, it would seem that the show is coming back later this year instead of 2019, Otaku Art reports.
