'The Irregular At Magic High School” season 2 is finally confirmed. But after more than five years of hiatus, it is not surprising if the producers will apply some changes in the production. It is now being reported that the second season might have fewer episodes than what was released in 2014.
‘The Irregular At Magic High School’ season 2 release date, episode count: What to expect
When the anime adaptation of the same title light novel series by Tsutomu Sato premiered in 2014, it had a total of 26 episodes. It covered a total of eight light novel volumes. There were only three following chapters yet to be adapted into anime at the time it concluded. It is likely one of the reasons why the announcement of “The Irregular At Magic High School” season 2 did not happen right away despite the show’s popularity.
Now, “The Irregular At Magic High School” season 2 is officially announced and will reportedly cover volumes 9 to 11. Seeing that the source materials have been scaled down from 8 to 3 volumes, the second season will most likely have a one-cour format that usually includes 12 to 13 episodes only.
There has been a fairly consistent pattern of release dates for light novel installments, which convinced fans that there is still hope for “The Irregular At Magic High School” season 2. The demand only increased when a movie was released in 2017. Fans’ patience finally paid off last week when the second season was announced with a 2020 release date.
Plans are still unknown but note that the release of the Rescue Chapter last month brings the number of the total light novel volumes to 30. So avid fans have a reason to believe that the anime could extend beyond “The Irregular At Magic High School” season 2.
‘The Irregular At Magic High School’ season 2 plot: Angelina Kudou Shields debuts in TV anime
Based on the volumes to be covered by “The Irregular At Magic High School” season 2, the three-part Visitor Arc will be wholly adapted into anime episodes next year. This means that Angelina Kudou Shields, or Lina, will finally debut on TV anime. Note, though, that the character first appeared in the 2017 anime movie “The Irregular At Magic High School: The Girl Who Calls the Stars.” It was an original story that was later given its light novel counterpart now listed as volume 11.5.
