There is a highly anticipated Allen family reunion in “The Flash” season 5. But one big surprise would be a get-together episode for the fan-favorite supervillains Gorilla Grodd (David Sobolov) and King Shark (David Hayter).
With a few days left before “The Flash” season 5 premiere, the possibilities are still endless regarding what will happen in the upcoming episodes. When a fan asked for more spoilers this season, TVLine’s Michael Ausiello revealed what showrunner Todd Helbing said about bringing King Shark and Gorilla Grodd back and together in one episode.
“We’re going to do everything we can to get King Shark and Grodd in the same episode, whether they’re fighting each other or the team,” Helbing revealed. However, the showrunner’s choice of words appears to be careful about not absolutely confirming it. But it also sounded like one of the major goals for the production staff in “The Flash” season 5.
However, not all favorite villains are imminent to return in “The Flash” season 5. This is the case, at least, for Mark Hamill’s The Trickster.
Helbing echoed fans’ wish to bring back The Trickster. However, the actor’s schedule made it impossible. Helbing explained why his return is not happening in “The Flash” season 5, “We always want to get Mark Hamill back, but my brother [Aaron Helbing] stole him for [History’]s ‘Knightfall.’”
Fans must remain hopeful, though, just as Helbing apparently is. “The Flash” season 5 showrunner added, “We’ll see what happens. We may have to arm wrestle for him!”
Meanwhile, all the clues are given to conclude that “The Flash” season 5 opener is centered on Nora Allen’s (Jessica Parker Kennedy) arrival. The episode is titled after the character's name and the brief synopsis also hints Iris (Candice Patton) and Barry’s (Grant Gustin) will be busy dealing with her presence in the first episode.
Nora traveled through time and arrived in her past, where Iris has not even conceived her yet. The family’s unplanned reunion in “The Flash” season 5 premiere will then turn in to a mission of returning Nora to where she belongs to also avoid further damage. “The Flash” season 5 premieres on Tuesday, Oct. 9, at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.
