Bethesda Game Studios has been mum about the release date window of “The Elder Scrolls 6.” But eagle-eyed fans might have cracked the company’s pattern. Also, an executive officer might have already given away a significant clue that the game is coming out by 2024.
Pete Hines, Bethesda's SVP of Global Marketing and Communications, was interviewed by Eurogamer in 2018 where he was also asked about the release dates of “Starfield” and “The Elder Scrolls 6.” A fan on Reddit noticed an interesting part of his response that led to the 2024 speculation.
“The timeframe for Bethesda Game Studios titles has not changed at all. What changed was our desire to lay out a roadmap of those titles,” Hines told Eurogamer when asked about “The Elder Scrolls 6.” “Timeframe-wise, it would still be about as long as you'd expect when you look at ‘Fallout 3’ to ‘Skyrim’ to ‘Fallout 4’ to ‘Fallout 76.’ It's still going to be those periods of time, that hasn't changed. Or at least, I don't think it will change from that based on what I know.”
“Fallout 3” was released in 2008, “The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim” in 2011, “Fallout 4” in 2015, and “Fallout 76” in 2018. The same Reddit user pointed out that there were about three years between the said games. In the same interview, Hines confirmed that Bethesda’s newest IP “Starfield” will come out earlier than “The Elder Scrolls 6.”
Since he implied that the same timeframe could be implemented for these upcoming titles, it could mean that “Starfield” might be released in 2021 after “Fallout 76.” Then “The Elder Scrolls 6” would follow in 2024. This is an interesting way to look at it, though, it should still be taken with a pinch of salt since Hines or any other Bethesda exec has not yet provided a straight answer about this matter. But they did confirm it will still be a long wait before the sequel’s launch.
