According to latest reports, the DAO proposal framework is complete and version 1.0 has been released. Parties interested in submitting a proposal to The DAO token holders now have a guideline to do so, The Merkle reported.
Christoph Jentzsch, founder of the German startup Slock.it, recently unveiled the Proposal Framework v1.0, which aims to solve all major concerns regarding governance and security that were raised during the DAO creation phase.
“It does so elegantly without requiring an immediate to update the DAO, by establishing a simple coding standard to be adopted by all Proposals before they are whitelisted by the Curator”, said Stephan Tual, Slock.it founder and COO.
In addition, Tual announced that the work on the DAO 1.1 has already started, adding that the proposal framework is just a “temporary solution”.
The DAO curators held a meeting recently to discuss the flaws that were identified in the DAO code and the probable attack vectors and determined that the DAO contract code needed an update. However, realizing that it is a time consuming process, it was decided to build a Proposal Framework as an alternative, which has now been realized in the form of Solidity Code.
“DAO 1.1 will be limited to the changes that render the Proposal Framework unnecessary by including an in-contract governance model impervious to common social attacks”, Tual added.
Christoph Jentzsch said that this framework solves the most pressing flaw of The DAO, the affirmative bias, and the disincentive to vote no.
“This pre-vote solves the yes bias as ‘no’ voters can safely split in the case the pre-vote was successful. This also mitigates the ambush/sniping attack, since voters who are against a Proposal but didn’t vote in the pre-vote, can now downvote it during the second round, or split”, he said, as quoted by The Merkle.
