“The Blacklist” Season 6 is still a long way off and fans of the crime drama series are speculating at the moment on the trajectory of the show’s plotline. The last installment revealed that Red (James Spader) is actually an imposter and that the bag of human remains belonged to the real Raymond Reddington, Carter Matt reported.
Show creator Jon Bokenkamp said that this plot twist has been a closely guarded secret by the team since the series’s inception. Following this reveal, interactions between Red and Liz (Megan Boone) in “The Blacklist” Season 6 will be entirely different as the mentor-apprentice plotline is now severed.
What’s going to replace it is the deep investigative work by Liz to uncover who Red truly is. This mission will not just dwell on the professional side of things as it will also bleed into the personal aspects of Liz’s life since Red is believed to be the agent’s father. As such, “The Blacklist” Season 6 will have Liz use all the skills she acquired up to this point in order to unveil the mystery surrounding Red.
However, this may prove to be the greatest challenge for the FBI operative since Red was the one who taught her most of the skills she has now. Fortunately for Liz, she has a couple tricks up her sleeve that didn’t come from Red but from her late husband. Will she be successful at employing these tools in “The Blacklist” Season 6? One can only speculate.
However, it’s expected that Red will outsmart Liz for a while since the former is quite adept in the craft of espionage. Wide as the disparity between these characters’ skills may be, Liz will eventually catch up to his former mentor in “The Blacklist” Season 6, at least, to the point that she learns an important aspect of the man’s backstory.
Liz is also expected to take Red’s life, especially since she has vowed to destroy the imposter herself. And given that the agent is no longer the naïve operative she was in the first installment, this altercation will surely be an interesting one to witness. As for the release date of “The Blacklist” Season 6, NBC has yet to provide details about this front, although it’s speculated that the crime drama will return in January 2019.
