“The Blacklist” Season 6 is still a long way off from being released and fans are already restless following the major plot twist that occurred in the previous installment. The story development in question is the revelation that Raymond “Red” Reddington (James Spader) is actually an impostor, Express reported.
What’s more, the one who discovered Red’s secret was Elizabeth (Megan Boone), the very woman who had been working by his side for years. So what does this mean for the FBI profiler and what path is she going to take in “The Blacklist” Season 6?
For one, she will need someone she can trust, a confidante that she can truly rely upon. One character that is perfect for this is Donald Ressler (Diego Klattenhoff). While the showrunners are keeping everything under wraps, there are alleged photos of “The Blacklist” Season 6 going around the web showing Liz and Ressler working together in the field.
But a confidante is just one of the many weapons that Liz is going to need in the next installment. The FBI profiler will also need to apply all the things she learned over the years. “The Blacklist” Season 6 will surely showcase these skills, which she acquired with the help of the impostor himself.
It can be recalled that after making a deal with the FBI, Red insisted on working exclusively with Liz, who was still a rookie at the time. While this was motivated purely by self-interest at first, the relationship eventually evolved into a mentor-apprentice story. But that relationship is set to transform in “The Blacklist” Season 6, with Liz using all her acquired knowledge to uncover Red’s true identity.
Red has already proven to be quite the mind when it comes keeping secrets, so Liz trying to uncover whom she is actually dealing with will be a tough challenge for the agent. Fortunately, it wasn’t just Red that taught Liz a trick or two but her husband as well. Showrunner Jon Bokenkamp revealed some information in “The Blacklist” Season 6 and most of it is centered on Liz and her journey to finding the truth.
“What she's learned from both of these men in her life will influence how she handles this truth and what she does to move forward,” Bokenkamp said. “I wouldn't expect it to be super squeaky clean. She has some skills that are a little bit on the dark side. That excites me. That's a very interesting character to explore and to follow into the next season.” NBC hasn’t revealed when “The Blacklist” Season 6 will air but it’s expected to drop sometime in the early months of 2019.
