Tacko Fall not being picked up by Celtics; Exhibit 10 contract still in place

There’s still some confusion about Tacko Fall and where he fits in the with the Boston Celtics. To be clear, the 7’6 center is still under the Exhibit 10 contract that he initially agreed upon.

That means the Celtics isn’t picking up Tack Fall as they’re still evaluating his performance and whether or not he fits with the team. But Danny Ainge already expressed positive sentiments towards Fall, praising his athleticism for a man of his size.

Ainge also said that Tacko Fall is one of the Celtics’ main priority and they’re doing everything they can to ensure that his development is looked after. The Cs interest in Fall isn’t all that surprising since they’ve lost Al Horford and Aron Baynes during offseason.

Tacko Fall and his future with the Celtics

While Enes Kanter has been signed to shore up that position, he’ll need someone to provide extra minutes while he catches his breath on the bench. Tacko Fall could fill that void.

The problem is that a guy like Fall is usually prone to injuries due to his size. Yao Ming easily comes to mind. This is why the Celtics are still unsure about Tacko Fall as they’re looking closely if he’s going to be an asset or a liability down the line. But he proves promising enough, and Ainge sees something in him, then he could be signed by the Celtics in the future.

His agreement with the team definitely has this flexibility as the Celtics can opt to convert it into a Two-Way contract or a one-year standard contract should the team sees enough justification to do so. For now, however, Tacko Fall will attend the team’s practice session. So what happens if the Celtics turn him down?

Tacko Fall could play for the Red Claws

Well, he could still opt to sign with the Maine Red Claws, a G-league team affiliated with the Celtics. Ainge’s interest in Tacko Fall stems from his performance during the recently concluded Summer League where he averaged 7.2 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 1.4 blocks on a jaw-dropping 77.3 FG percentage.

Sure, most of those came from dunks, but it’s still impressive, especially given Tacko Fall’s frame and how he lugs it around the court. Fans who attended the Summer League received the center with a warm reception, chanting his name whenever he scores and lining up to get his autograph at some point during the event.
