Suri Cruise is enjoying the kind of life a few kids can only dream of. But while being the child of two prominent Hollywood stars certainly has its perks, it also comes with its own restrictions, which are stifling for a 12-year-old.
For instance, for most of her young life, Suri Cruise did not attend a regular school as Kati Holmes opted to homeschool the child instead. This, in turn, prevented Suri from mingling with other children her age, limiting her company to her tutors, her mom, and those who are closely tied to their family.
Fortunately, Katie Holmes has changed her tune and has since enrolled Suri Cruise in Sacred Heart Catholic School, an institution that has groomed important figures. But this freedom comes at a cost as Katie Holmes said that she wants her daughter to achieve stellar grades and anything below is unacceptable.
Of course, Holmes understands that it isn’t healthy to keep pushing Suri Cruise beyond what she is currently capable of. After all, the “Dawson's Creek” alum simply wants her daughter to reach for excellence rather than settle for mediocrity. This is especially true since Katie Holmes said that she’s teaching her daughter the value of hard work.
But this isn’t the only thing that the “Batman Begins” star is instilling in Suri Cruise as the single mother is also reinforcing the value of responsibility. Katie Holmes is imparting this significant lesson by giving her daughter some household chores, an activity that most kids today can definitely relate to.
What’s more, Suri Cruise is also being taught to be compassionate and sharing by showing empathy to those who are in need, particularly the homeless. All of these lessons will undoubtedly prove to be invaluable in the future, especially since Suri isn’t your regular kid.
For instance, tabloids have time and again written stories about Suri Cruise regarding her relationship with her father, her mother’s current boyfriend, and her bond with Katie Holmes herself. With all these publications taking interest in the 12-year-old, it’s understandable that Holmes is quite protective of her daughter.
She is so protective, in fact, that a family member needs to be vetted first before their child can become close friends with Suri Cruise. Although this seems a bit excessive, it’s also important to understand that Katie Holmes is just being cautious given what she went through with her ex-husband, Tom Cruise.
