Despite being separated, Tom Cruise allegedly still holds some control over his ex-wife, Katie Holmes, telling her whom she’s allowed to interact with.
But this restriction isn’t an all-encompassing one as the prohibition applies only to certain members of society, particularly those who have left the Church of Scientology. It’s no secret by now that Tom Cruise is a high-ranking member of this organization and his adamant loyalty to it is supposedly the reason why Katie Holmes left him all those years ago.
Tom Cruise’s connection to the church also reportedly prohibits him from seeing Suri Cruise, his daughter with Katie Holmes. Although the ex-couple’s custody agreement allows the “Top Gun” star to visit the 12-year-old girl for 10 days each month, the actor hasn’t really practiced this parental freedom for years.
The reason is that Katie Holmes has allegedly been branded by the organization as a Suppressive Person (SP) or someone who has an antisocial behavior. And since Suri is the child of an SP, Tom Cruise is allegedly prohibited from visiting his daughter.
As for Tom Cruise’s control over Katie Holmes and whom she can interact with, this information came from Leah Remini. Remini is a former member of the church who is now an active critic of the organization, Closer Weekly reported.
Remini said that she often wondered why Katie Holmes and Nicole Kidman – also Tom Cruise’s ex-wife – haven’t spoken out against the Church of Scientology. “I assume they were forced to sign prohibitive documents," Remini said. "Trust me, Katie's not allowed to have a meal with me, and we used to be close friends. She could lose custody of Suri [Cruise]. It's quite sick, really."
As for Tom Cruise, his loyalty to the organization is still unwavering. The “Mission Impossible” star currently resides in Clearwater, Florida, near the international headquarters of the Church of Scientology. The actor is currently filming “Top Gun 2” where he’s to reprise his iconic role of Pete "Maverick" Mitchell.
