Microsoft's Surface Book 3 is speculated to come out later this year as the second entry is approaching two years old. With the first and second iteration having a two-year gap in between, this assumption is a safe one, Forbes reported.
Which brings us to the specs, hardware, and other details that the Surface Book 3 might have. Unfortunately, Microsoft has yet to break its silence about the device and what sort of improvement they’ll do for the next entry.
But if they listen to the criticism and demand of those waiting for the Surface Book 3, then its battery life, CPU, weight, and design will see an improvement parallel to the trend seen in 2019. First up is its CPU.
With Intel’s Ice Lake being announced as having a Holiday 2019 release date, there’s a chance that the Surface Book 3 will be outfitted with this chip. Seeing that the processor is designed to accommodate laptops and 2-in-1 devices, Microsoft would do well to have this chip run its third entry.
Its battery life should also be given an improvement as the Surface Book 3 is expected to not only cater to creative works but could also accommodate gamers as well. This assumption is based on the fact that the Surface Book 2 has a built-in Xbox receiver, Tech Radar reported.
If Microsoft outfitted the device with such feature, then they’d do well to increase the battery life of the Surface Book 3 to more than 17 hours. Reducing the device’s weight is also imperative for the next entry as the Surface Book 2 is quite unwieldy. So much so that using it as a literal laptop would usually end up sliding down a user’s legs as most of the weight is being carried by the detachable screen.
Lastly, the design of the Surface Book 3 also needs a bit of improvement even though the second entry is gorgeous enough already. After all, if the Surface Pro 6 and the Surface Laptop 2 have seen a fresh take on this regard, then the Surface Book 3 should be given a similar treatment as well. As for its price, end users are hoping that the device would not stray too far from the cost of the second iteration given that the 2-in-1 device is already pricy enough as it is.
