There’s still little to no information regarding the Microsoft Surface Book 3 even though the second iteration came out almost two years ago. The Microsoft Surface Book 2 is one of the most versatile devices in this niche being able to act as a 2-in-1 laptop/tablet combo.
As such, tech enthusiasts have been asking when the Microsoft Surface Book 3 may come out and the specifications that it might have. While its manufacturer hasn’t announced anything yet, rumors are pointing at a late 2019 or early 2020 release date, Tech Radar reported.
The assumption is based on the fact that Intel’s Ice Lake will be coming out in this year’s Holiday season. With the processor designed for laptops and 2-in-1s, the Microsoft Surface Book 3 can take advantage of this new hardware to outshine its predecessor in this department.
But it’s not just the processor that is expected to be revamped but its battery life as well. Those who owned the Microsoft Surface Book 2 know all too well that even though 17-hour battery life is great, there’s still room for improvement on this front. While Microsoft designed this series for creative endeavors, it also outfitted it with a built-in Xbox receiver, opening up gaming possibilities for the device. The Microsoft Surface Book 3 would do well in this department if its battery life is improved so that it shouldn’t be confined to do creative tasks simply, Laptop Mag reported.
The third entry could also be designed to be lighter than its predecessor. Mobility is one of the strengths of Microsoft Surface Book 2. The 13.5-inch variant weighs 3.6 pounds and is 9.0 inches thick. Reducing that weight and width for the Microsoft Surface Book 3 would surely please a lot of people, especially those who are practicing the digital nomad lifestyle.
As for its price, nothing substantial has come up on this front either. However, it’s expected that the Microsoft Surface Book 3 wouldn’t stray too far from the cost of the second entry. The 13-inch model of the Surface Book 2 has a starting price of $1,499. The 15-inch variant, on the other hand, costs $2,299. Hopefully, we hear a lot more from Microsoft what they’re planning for the series before the fall season starts.
