‘Supernatural’ Season 12, Episode 14 Spoilers: “The Raid” – Mary Allies with British Men of Letters to Defeat Vampire Coven

‘Supernatural’ season 12’s episode 14, titled “The Raid,” will follow Mary as she allies herself with the British Men of Letters in order to defeat an entire coven of vampires. However, Sam and Dean will be suspicious to the secret group’s ulterior motives.

The synopsis for “The Raid” posted on TV Guide states, “A chance to take out a nest of vampires backfires when the alpha-vamp shows up and turns the tables on Mary (guest star Samantha Smith) and the British Men of Letters, who are doing their best to recruit Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles).”

The upcoming episode presents impending chaos for the Winchester Family, especially with the involvement of the British Men of Letters. The ancient secret order is known as the observers, collectors and chronicles of mysteries unknown and oftentimes unexplainable to men. The accumulated vast amounts of knowledge and supernatural secrets through the years including information on exorcisms, records of demonic possessions, and even time travel spells.

Although the Men of Letters became extinct in 1985 after a large number of members were exterminated by Abbadon, their legacy lived on through Sam and Dean. It seems that the British branch of the secret order is adamant on getting the Winchester brothers to join them.

According to Cartermatt, Sam and Dean may not be easily convinced since they’re more likely to shun a group in favor of just working together, with the exception of their good friend Castiel (Misha Collins) who often joins them in their missions.

It seems that their mother Mary Winchester will be joining forces with the British Men of Letters in the upcoming episode in order to defeat a dangerous coven of vampires. However, her sons aren’t exactly fond of her choice of allies despite her good intention. This may be because Sam and Dean suspect that the group has an ulterior motive, which prompted their decision to help Mary.

During an interview with Entertainment Weekly, showrunner Andrew Dabb revealed that the new episodes will feature more of Mary in action as she becomes fully adjusted to her second life on Earth.

Dabb said, “Since episode 3, Mary’s been on an eat, pray, love journey to reorient herself.” He continued, “When she comes back into our story, which she’ll come back most strongly in episode 9, it’s going to be someone with a lot more of a sense of purpose… She’s got the lay of the land. She understands the world a little bit more. She understands her sons a little bit more.”

He teased, “Starting in episode 9, she becomes a much more proactive character in our world. She’s not going to be necessarily living in the bunker with Sam and Dean but she’s going to be more of a player in our show.”

‘Supernatural’ season 12’s episode 14, titled “The Raid,” is scheduled to air on The CW on March 2, 2017. It was directed by John MacCarthy and written by Robert Berens. It will be followed by episode 15, titled "Somewhere Between Heaven and Hell," directed by Nina Lopez-Corrado and scheduled to be released on March 9.
