‘Supernatural’ season 12’s episode 10, titled "Lily Sunder Has Some Regrets," is set to explore Castiel’s past as a woman named Lily hunts him down to exact revenge for the murder of her family.
The synopsis for "Lily Sunder Has Some Regrets” posted on TV Guide reads, “Lily Sunder (guest star Alicia Witt) steeps herself in black magic, honing her powers for over a century, to exact revenge on a band of angels who murdered her family. Meanwhile, Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) try to prevent Castiel (Misha Collins) from becoming her next victim.”
Castiel will have to deal with a vengeful figure from his past in the upcoming episode. It seems that Lily, a woman with some history with Castiel, will hunt him down to get her revenge for the murder of her family. Episode 10 will also delve deeper into Castiel’s past.
During an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Collins teased that Castiel and Lily’s reunion will be an unpleasant one. He explained, "It's not a good history… She has been around for a very long time and is determined to rectify things." He went on to say that Lily is adamant to get revenge for events in the past and this would require “a lot of angel blade fighting.”
During another interview with TV Line at the Vancouver set, Collins revealed, “We’re seeing the earliest version of Cas to date… We just came from doing a scene in an old church where we are dealing with some of Cas’ old battalion mates from heaven… It’s interesting for him to rehash old memories, for sure.”
Executive producer Andrew Dabb previously revealed that Castiel was part of a battalion of angels tasked at watching Earth. He was the one responsible for saving Dean Winchester from a hellish fate on the command of the archangels.
‘Supernatural’ season 12’s episode 10, titled "Lily Sunder Has Some Regrets," is scheduled to air on The CW on February 2, 2017. Thomas J. Wright directed the episode written by Steve Yockey. It will be followed by episode 11, titled "Regarding Dean," scheduled for February 9.
