“Supergirl” season 4 will be very different from the previous seasons because the production team seemingly revamped the show with major casting changes. Firstly, “Tron: Legacy” star Bruce Boxleitner was tapped by The CW to play as Vice President Baker.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the 68-year-old actor took over the role from Brent Spiner, who was initially announced to be the series’ VP Baker. Spiner was originally booked for “Supergirl” season 4 in a recurring role but he had to back out due to scheduling issues. It was said that the actor had to attend to a family matter that clashed with the filming dates so he was forced to give up the role.
New Cast Lineup
“Supergirl” season 4 will introduce a bunch of new faces for fresh stories. With the departure of Chris Wood (Mon-El/Lar Gand), Erica Durance (Alura) and Jeremy Jordan (Winn Schott) as series regulars, several new cast members are expected to fill in for their absence.
As Entertainment Weekly reported, former “Smallville” star Sam Witwer has joined the cast as Agent Liberty, the head of an anti-alien hate group called the Children of Liberty, while Jesse Rath of “No Tomorrow” signed up Brainiac 5 or Brainy.
April Parker Jones was also added to the cast and she will be Colonel Haley in “Supergirl” season 4. The new character is described as a hardline career military woman who strictly follows her commanders’ orders.
Another upcoming “Supergirl” regular is Nicole Maines, who will be Dreamer or Nia Nal in the series. She will be the first transgender superhero to be introduced to the show.
The New Villainess
A new villain is coming up in “Supergirl” season 4. Rhona Mitra is going to be Mercy Graves, someone who once served as Lex Luthor’s bodyguard in the original DC comics.
Melissa Benoist will remain as Kara when “Supergirl” season 4 returns. How she will face Mercy Graves is something to watch out for in the new season.
Plot
Executive producers Jessica Queller and Robert Rovner revealed that “Supergirl” season 4 was inspired by DC Comics’ “Red Son,” where the narrative tackles what would happen if Superman came down in Russia as a baby instead of the U.S.
“Supergirl” season 4 is set to air its first episode on Oct. 14 at 8 p.m. on The CW.
