‘Star Wars Rebels’ season 3 episode 12 and 13, titled “Ghosts of Geonosis Pt. 1 and 2,” is set to introduce Forest Whitaker’s rebel freedom fighter Saw Gerrera.
The next episode of ‘Star Wars Rebels’ is set to premiere in January 7, 2016 and will be titled “Ghosts of Geonosis.” The episode synopses posted on Comicbookmovie.com reads, "Part One: The crew returns to Geonosis in search of a missing rebel team sent to investigate suspicious activity there, and are surprised by what they find.
Part Two: After finding a missing rebel team member, the Ghost crew discovers another surprise on Geonosis, and work to conceal it from Imperial forces.”
Geonosis is an inhospitable desert planet and home of the Geonosians, which served as the initial construction site of the Death Star. It hosted its major battle droid foundries and was considered the first capital of the Confederacy of Independent Systems, a separatist alliance that spread across the vast galaxy. It was also the site of the Battle of Geonosis, which was the opening conflict of the Clone Wars.
According to Comingsoon.net, Academy Award-winning actor Forest Whitaker is set to provide the voice of Rebel freedom fighter Saw Gerrera. His character will make his debut on the animated series in the incoming two-part episode slated to premiere on Disney XD. Whitaker also starred as Saw in the 2016 space opera film directed by Gareth Edwards and written by Chris Weitz and Tony Gilroy.
The incoming episodes will also feature the return of the Mandalorians (including Sabine’s mom), Bail Organa, Mon Mothma, the Rebel Fleet, and Obi-Wan Kenobi, who is set to battle Darth Maul.
‘Star Wars Rebels’ season 3’s second half is set to premiere on January 7, 2017 with a special hour-long two-episode mid-season premiere. Episodes 12 and 13, titled “Ghosts of Geonosis Pt. 1 and 2,” are scheduled to air on Disney XD.
The series follows the adventures of a small crew finding their way in the Rebel Alliance a few years prior to the events of ‘Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope.’
