LOS ANGELES, Feb. 14, 2018 -- StandardVision, LLC (“StandardVision”), a leading designer and builder of experiential and architecturally-integrated LED digital media solutions, announced today that it has been named a finalist in the Digital Signage Expo (DSE) 2018 APEX Awards for "Convergence" in the Event Venues & Hospitality category for its work at Metropolis Los Angeles.
“On behalf of our team at StandardVision, I am honored that we have been named as a finalist for this prestigious industry award,” said Adrian Velicescu, Chief Executive Officer & Chief Creative Officer of StandardVision. “Through our collaboration with the project’s developers, architects and artists, we were able to create an architecturally integrated media display that delivers a beautiful and engaging form of public art to benefit the development and surrounding community. Our efforts have truly created a new digital monument in the heart of Downtown Los Angeles.”
Metropolis is a mixed-use development consisting of residences, hotel, office and retail in the heart of downtown Los Angeles. Developer, Greenland USA, and art advisory firm, Isenberg & Associates, Inc., partnered with StandardVision to design, manufacture, and install the new 1,400-square-foot, transparent LED video display as part of its public art installation at Metropolis, ConvergenceLA. The display features digital media art created by Refik Anadol and Susan Narduli. Anadol and Narduli describe the art installation as “a generative construct fueled by data and informed by aesthetics”—a synergy of Anadol’s digitally-focused art practice and Narduli’s narrative-infused artwork.
The DSE APEX Awards were created to recognize and honor achievement in the installation of digital displays and interactive technology and the creation of compelling viewer content. The DSE APEX Awards have honored hundreds of companies for their innovation throughout the years.
