'Spider-Man 4' Release Date, Cast, Spoilers and Theories: Everything We Know So Far

Here is everything we know so far about the upcoming "Spider-Man 4" movie.

“Spider-Man 4” is expected to witness the return of Tom Holland's web-slinger to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Most, if not all, fans are aware that the English actor made his MCU debut in “Captain America: Civil War” as the friendly neighborhood wall-crawler, and later appeared in “Infinity War” and “Endgame” as well as his own trilogy: “Spider-Man Homecoming,” “Spiderman: Far From Home” and “Spiderman: No Way Home.”

The most recent “Spider-Man” movie featured his teaming up with Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire’s Spidermen in a fight against villains from the past, including Lizard, Sandman, Electro, Doctor Octopus and Green Goblin. Here is everything we know about the upcoming “Spider-Man 4” movie.

Spider-Man 4’ Release Date

Unfortunately, “Spider-Man 4” has not confirmed the release date as of this writing. It was previously thought that the sequel would be released on July 12, 2024, a date revealed by The Cosmic Circus, a respected leaker. Sony also has an unconfirmed Marvel project planned for release on June 7, 2024, which “Spider-Man 4” may fill.

This would put “Spider-Man 4” between “Captain America 4” and “Thunderbolts,” with all three films entering theaters within a few months of each other. However, all of this came before to the writers' and actors' strike, which is expected to delay the production until at least 2025.

“Are we going to make another movie? Of course, we are. We’re in the process, but the writers strike, nobody is working during the strike. We’re all being supporters and whenever they get themselves together, we’ll get started,” Sony producer Amy Pascal said to Variety recently.

“This is not the last movie that we are going to make with Marvel – [this is not] the last Spider-Man movie. We are getting ready to make the next Spider-Man movie with Tom Holland and Marvel. We’re thinking of this as three films, and now we’re going to go on to the next three. This is not the last of our MCU movies,” Amy told Fandango in a separate interview.

Spider-Man 4’ Cast

In “Spider-Man 4,” Tom Holland is anticipated to reprise his role as Peter Parker/Spider-Man. The actor’s involvement was uncertain following the “No Way Home” publicity tour. While he has not ruled out reprising the part in a fourth film or possibly a second trilogy, Tom was eager to take a break after the strain of keeping the film's secrets hidden.

Given how “Spider-Man: No Way Home” ended, there's a potential that Zendaya and Jacob Batalon will not reprise their roles as MJ and Ned, although it's hoped they will, in the imminent “Spider-Man 4” movie. Also, Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield are unlikely to appear in the upcoming film. Both have stated that they are open to the concept if the script is good enough, but “No Way Home” returned them to their respective universes, so it would be strange for them to appear again.

Spider-Man 4’ Plot

There are no official plot details for “Spider-Man 4,” although it has been linked to “Daredevil: Born Again” and may introduce Venom to the MCU. Doctor Strange fixed the multiverse rift at the end of “No Way Home” before a flood of villains from other realities flooded into the MCU. The only catch was that everyone in the world had forgotten who Peter Parker was, erasing his friendship with Ned and relationship with MJ.

Kevin Feige previously said that Spider-Man and another significant character, Matt Murdock, aka Daredevil, played by Charlie Cox, will lead the MCU's "street-level heroes" going forward. According to the Cosmic Circus, the upcoming “Spider-Man 4” movie "might actually handle the aftermath of Daredevil: Born Again." Vincent D'Onofrio, who reprised his role as Kingpin in Hawkeye and will appear in “Echo” and “Daredevil: Born Again,” wants to see Wilson Fisk vs. Spider-Man.
