Song Joong Ki is not renewing his contract with his agency of seven years. His decision to leave the company came six months after he and Song Hye Kyo ended their marriage that did not even reach the second year.
The actor’s contract with Blossom Entertainment is expiring this Dec. 31, and he and the agency amicably agreed that it is time for him to leave and search for a new home that will manage his career. At the announcement of his impending departure from Blossom, various companies have been expressing their interest in having the actor in their roster, but there is no update yet if Joong Ki has already considered one.
Rumored new agency
As Song Joong Ki’s departure from Blossom Entertainment has been confirmed, reports stating that he will transfer to Kakao M Entertainment have surfaced. However, the company denied that the A-list actor is joining their team once his contract expires.
In a tweet posted by a group that translates Kpop news from Korean news outlets, Kakao M was said to have issued a statement. “Kakao M denied that Song Joong Ki will be joining the agency next year following news of Song Joongki's contract expiring with Blossom Entertainment later this month.”
Kim Ji Won is also leaving her agency
Just days after it was reported that Joon Ki is leaving Blossom, news about Kim Ji Won’s departure from her own agency, King Kong by Starship, has emerged. Her contract expired last week, and she did not renew.
“Our exclusive contract with Kim Ji Won expired in early December,” Soompi quoted a rep from the agency as saying. “After discussing with the actress, we decided not to renew. Although the contract has expired, we will continue to support Kim Ji Won’s activities.”
Now, as they leave their respective agencies, there is a possibility that Song Joong Ki and Kim Ji Won could sign up with the same company. The two have worked together in “Descendants of the Sun,” and they recently starred as lovers in “Arthdal Chronicles,” where some fans think that they look good together.
