Fans of the smash hit fighting game “Skullgirls” will soon be able to play the stylistic title on their “iOS” or “Android” phones. This makes the video game available on practically every platform in the market, but the mobile versions are particularly interesting. For one thing, it’s not expected to play exactly like it would with its bigger counterparts.
The Indie video game by “Lab Zero” is one of the most successful indie fighting video games ever, and its massive appeal among fans of the genre has propelled it to reach heights that have made it in-demand even for non-console platform users. As a result, Hidden Variable is developing a version that is compatible with “iOS” and “Android” devices, which will have role-playing game elements in addition to the straight-up brawling action.
According to Engadget, players will be able to collect items and use them to upgrade their characters for more variety in playstyle. The characters will even be able to equip items and players will be able to focus more on the big picture instead of the micro-managing gameplay that the game comes with thanks to the “Fight Assist” feature. There is some concern regarding in-app purchases which might lead to imbalances, but there hasn’t been any news regarding this particular issue.
The closed beta is already available and anyone who wants to try the mobile version in its early stages can apply for the opportunity. The final version is expected to arrive by the end of 2016, but as Parent Herald reported, there is a lot more to the game that the developers are not telling fans.
So far, many of the core features seem intact, with the dozens of characters that all have unique playstyles and abilities offering players with plenty of opportunities to dish out beat downs in incredibly satisfying fashion.
