BIRMINGHAM, Ala., Jan. 18, 2018 -- Shipt, a rapidly growing online grocery marketplace, today announced a pilot program expansion with Lidl, one of the world’s largest retailers. Cumulatively, more than 340,000 households across Richmond now have the ability to shop grocery and household items from Lidl stores, delivered by Shipt. To celebrate, new Shipt members who sign up prior to expansion will receive an annual membership for $49 (regularly $99).
Founded in 2014, Shipt is committed to simplifying its members’ lives by offering a new, convenient grocery shopping experience. Delivering grocery stores’ full selection of items, Shipt’s marketplace gives customers the ability to browse their local stores’ aisles online, in addition to categories featuring healthy ingredients, seasonal selections, and inspiration for quick, easy meals.
“Shipt is dedicated to bringing a modern grocery delivery experience to the Richmond community. Our pilot expansion with Lidl is an example of Shipt’s commitment to offering members more delivery options,” said Bill Smith, founder and CEO of Shipt.
Since opening its first U.S. stores in June 2017, Lidl has built a loyal following among customers who appreciate Lidl’s high quality products. The pilot program with Shipt offers Lidl customers an additional avenue to access fresh produce and award-winning products, providing a time-saving solution for families who already know and love the Lidl brand.
“Lidl is proud to offer our customers in the Richmond area high quality groceries and award-winning products at low prices,” said Zara Khaleeli, Senior Project Manager at Lidl. “By piloting grocery delivery with Shipt, our customers in the Richmond area will have access to an additional, seamless way to shop for the products they love.”
Leading up to the expansion, Shipt plans to hire additional shoppers throughout the Richmond network. They will be a part of the team responsible for ensuring complete, accurate fulfillments of each order. To apply to be a Shipt Shopper, visit Shipt.com and click “Get Paid to Shop.”
