Fans may have fought hard for “Shadowhunters” to have a future beyond “Shadowhunters” season 3 but it seems that Freeform's supernatural drama is still on its way to a series finale come the end of its upcoming installment. Still, fan love is highly appreciated by the show's cast and crew, who recently shared more of their love for “Shadowhunters” season 3 on social media with a special announcement.

The official “Shadowhunters” Twitter page recently announced the official season premiere date for “Shadowhunters” season 3. Harry Shum Jr., Katherine McNamara, and Dom Sherwood also shared the news via their respective social media accounts. The posts acknowledge and state clearly that when “Shadowhunters” season 3 returns on Feb. 25, it will be the start of the show's final episodes, with its end somewhere down the road in 2019.
While fans may expect a bittersweet reception for “Shadowhunters” season 3 due to the finality of the upcoming episodes, the final half of the installment still has some surprises for its fans. “Shadowhunters” season 3's second half will also feature the introduction of a newly resurrected Jonathan Morgenstern, to be portrayed by “As Night Comes” actor Luke Baines.
Luke Baines's appearance is not the only awaited casting surprise fans can expect from “Shadowhunters” season 3. Kimberly-Sue Murray will also be making her introductory appearance in season 3's second half as the new Seelie Queen. The Seelie Queen was previously played by multiple actresses, including Lola Flanery for the Queen's child form, and “Modern Family's” Sarah Hyland for her adult form in “Shadowhunters” season 2.
Fans looking forward to sharing the final adventures of the “Shadowhunters” season 3 cast and crew can catch the season 3 second-half premiere episode when it airs on Feb. 25. Hopefully, the last season's final half provides enough time for fans to convince studios to save “Shadowhunters” from its end.
