Samsung Electronics Co. denied rumors that it will discontinue the Galaxy Note series next year due to the emergence of other premium devices, such as Galaxy Z foldable and Galaxy S devices.
Speculations arose earlier Wednesday after Samsung's mobile business chief Roh Tae-moon hinted in an editorial that Samsung would support the S-Pen stylus in more Galaxy devices in addition to the Galaxy Note phablets.
People claimed that Roh's latest message points to the discontinuation of the Galaxy Note series.
But a Samsung official denied such speculation, adding that they are preparing to release the Galaxy Note series next year.
He also emphasized that Roh's message does not mean that the Galaxy Note series will be discontinued.
Industry officials expect Samsung to make the stylus available for the high-end model of the Galaxy S21 smartphone to be unveiled in January.
The Galaxy Note series was introduced in 2011.
