Samsung is widely expected to launch its new smartwatches in the coming weeks, but fans may already have the first look at the upcoming Galaxy Watch 4 Classic. Unlike previous releases, though, the company is rumored to offer more than two size variants.
Since Samsung launched the Galaxy Watch, the South Korean tech giant has been offering the device in two different sizes only. However, leaked renders shared by Android Headlines came with some details about the Galaxy Watch 4 Classic, claiming that the device will come in 42mm, 44mm, and 46mm variants.
The Galaxy Watch 4 Classic design more similar to the standard Galaxy Watch in previous years. The same report mentioned that this is the model that will carry the rotating bezel and not the standard Galaxy Watch 4 that appeared in earlier leaks. The renders provide a closer look at two buttons on the right side, which are expected to summon the device’s menu option and other features.
Samsung will reportedly offer the Galaxy Watch 4 Classic with three color options – white, black, and silver. The report suggests that all three watch sizes will be available in stainless steel and aluminum materials.
Compatibility with standard 20mm watch bands will be retained as well. The Galaxy Watch 4 Classic will ship with two free bands in the box, a small/medium band, and a medium/large band. The renders only show silicon straps, but the company is likely to sell more options separately. Like Apple, Samsung is known for offering a wide array of smartwatch bands in different colors and designs.
The device also appears to be designed to survive rugged environments. The Galaxy Watch 4 Classic display will reportedly use Gorilla Glass DX or DX+, which are expected to be more scratch-resistant. It is also rumored to have a 5ATM rating that Samsung previously said allows the device to endure 50-meter waters for 10 minutes. This means users should have no problem using the watch while they are swimming. The same report noted that the watch is certified with MIL-STD-810G.
Samsung fans will have to be a little more patient when it comes to the Galaxy Watch 4 Classic release date. The Galaxy Unpacked showcase where the next wearable devices are likely to be announced is rumored to happen in early August.
