Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe have starred in the “Outlander” series since it premiered in 2014. The two have a very close relationship today, but as it turned out, they were awkward when they first met.
Heughan and Balfe also had many very intimate scenes in the drama that they were even rumored to be dating in real life because there is no way they could have pulled off such realistic scenes. But then, the two have repeatedly stated that they are just friends and co-workers who get along very well.
Sam reveals how he felt the first day he met Caitriona
According to Express, even though Heughan looks really relaxed on the set of “Outlander,” the actor is also shy at times. One such example of this moment was when he met Balfe for the first time. He said that on the first day that he and Caitriona had filmed together, he was really very nervous.
He added that the filming took place in a stable and he actually doesn’t have an idea of what they are getting into. He means to say that they were still clueless about the upcoming “hot scenes,” but they overcame everything and had endured their filming in the next five years.
"The first time, I remember, honestly was meeting you,” Sam told Balfe in the interview. "We were in the stables and you came in and we had no idea what we were getting ourselves in for. We were both a little shy and nervous and had no idea and it was just, this is gonna be my telly wife for the next five, six years!"
Can Sam and Caitriona end up together in real life?
While many fans want Jamie and Claire Fraser to end up together as a real-life couple, it is not possible since the latter is already taken. Plus, Caitriona Balfe also went on to be engaged and finally married to Tony McGill recently. These moments in her life happened while she was filming the “Outlander” series; thus, Sam Heughan witnessed how his co-star ended up with her “forever.”
