Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe are considered one of the best couples in a drama series today, and it is thanks to their portrayal as Claire and Jamie Fraser in the “Outlander” drama that is on its fifth installment now. The pair already received high praises and recognition for their work in the time-traveling period drama, and more is coming their way as they continue to excel in their craft.
According to the Jersey Evening Post, Heughan is set to receive his honorary degree from the University of Stirling based in the United Kingdom. He will be recognized for his charitable works and excellent acting talent in the “Outlander” series and other dramas.
Sam Heughan will be honored at the university’s graduation ceremonies that will take place on June 27. Balfe’s co-star is also known for his charity works, and in particular, people know about his My Peak Challenge site that was set up in 2015 as a means to raise funds for the needy and charity organizations.
“Sam Heughan is one of Scotland’s leading actors who is best-known for his role in popular television series “Outlander,” and through his charity work, he is dedicated to improving the lives of others,” Professor Gerry McCormac, principal and vice-chancellor of the University of Stirling, stated.
Caitriona Balfe also received several recognitions while acting as Claire Fraser in “Outlander,” and most of them are acting awards from prestigious award-giving bodies. Now, since it has been five years since she started to work with Sam Heughan, she recently shared that there is something that wants for the fans to pick up while watching their drama.
Balfe relayed through an interview with Parade that she wants fans to know about loving genuinely. “One thing I love about it is it shows love is worth fighting for,” she said. “I think that is something we explore continuously in the show.
Meanwhile, Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe are also candidates for the upcoming Emmy’s. Starz nominated them for the Best Actor and Best Actress categories, respectively.
