SK Telecom announced this week that it has launched the T Universe, the company’s new subscription e-commerce platform. The South Korean mobile service provider unveiled its new service on Wednesday, Aug. 25.
According to The Korea Herald, SK Telecom held a press conference to unveil its T Universe and said that its target is to gain at least 36 million subscribers by the year 2025, which is equivalent to more than half of S. Korea’s total population. If it will achieve this goal, the company is aiming to earn ₩8 trillion or around $6.85 billion for the annual transactions.
SK Telecom’s chief executive officer, Park Jung Ho, said that the new subscription service aims to create a new kind of subscription service that will be beneficial to customers and business partners. The CEO further described T Universe as a new subscription lifestyle designed for the company’s customers.
Furthermore, based on the press release, the mobile service provider stated, “T Universe is SK Telecom's subscription business that contains the philosophy of pursuing a subscription platform that anyone from global companies to startups and small business owners can participate in and can be used by all citizens.”
It was added, “It contains the service orientation of proposing subscription products that fit each customer's lifestyle so that all customers can have their own 'subscription universe.”
SK Telecom shared that it has created the subscription products on T Universe in collaboration with global operators, startups, and major local brands. Customers who will subscribe will find products that are not just available in package offerings, but they can also opt for individual units.
Currently, some of T Universe’s partners include Amazon Global Store, Starbucks, Paris Baguette, and the local convenience store chain E-mart. SK Telecom will continue to add useful subscription products and services to fit with the lifestyles of the subscribers.
Finally, in the coming days or months, customers who will register on T Universe will also get to enjoy digital services like Xbox Game Pass and Google One. There will also be insurance and education services, pet products, flowers, ride-hailing services, and many more. It was reported that SK Telecom is in talks with about 100 companies to continue expanding its T Universe subscription services platform, as per The Korea Times.
