‘Rogue One: A Star Wars Story’ recently released its official trailer featuring a new cast of characters. It earned positive reception and dominated social media sites, specifically Twitter. The trailer revealed that Mads Mikkelsen’s Galen Erso holds a key role in the new film’s storyline.
According to the Wall Street Journal, the newly unveiled official trailer of Gareth Edwards’ upcoming first installment in the ‘Star Wars’ anthology films was such a hit among waiting fans that it was deemed the most popular trailer being talked about on Twitter.
Data analytics firm ListenFirst Media reported that ‘Rogue One: A Star Wars Story’ took the number one spot for Top Trailer Tweets from August 8 to August 14. Paul W.S. Anderson’s action-horror flick ‘Resident Evil: The Final Chapter’ took second place while Theodore Melfi’s drama film ‘Hidden Figures’ took third place. Mark Waters’ comedy sequel ‘Bad Santa 2’ followed at fourth place and Fede Alvarez’ ‘Don’t Breath’ finished up at fifth place.
Although reception for the trailer was generally positive in North America, The Hollywood Reporter reported that it drew mixed reactions from China. Disney took extra steps to attract the Chinese market by casting two of the nation’s top actors Donnie Yen and Jiang Wen in the film. Yen and Wen are set to portray Chirrut Imwe and Baze Malbus, respectively.
J.J. Abrams’ ‘Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens’ earned $2.058 billion worldwide, with $124.1 million procured from China.
In addition to Yen and Wen, other members of the ‘Rogue One’ cast include Felicity Jones as Jyn Erso, Diego Luna as Cassian Andor, Ben Mendelsohn as Orson Krennic, Alan Tudyk as K-2SO, Riz Ahmed as Bodhi Rook, Forest Whitaker as Saw Gerrera, and Mads Mikkelsen as Galen Erso.

It was revealed that his character may be responsible for the Rebel Alliance finding out about plans for the Death Star.

It is intended as the first standalone film in the ‘Star Wars’ anthology. It is produced by Lucasfilm Ltd. and distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures.
