It was a relatively significant day for Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart last month as it marked the 10th anniversary of the “Twilight” franchise. Although the two have since moved on from the shadows of that film, there’s no denying that their association to the teen-vampire movies will follow them for the rest of their careers.
After all, it was this franchise that propelled Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart to A-list status; a status that they are still enjoying to this very day. Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke said that casting the main stars for the films was one of the easiest decisions of her life, particularly in Bella’s case.
In a new interview given by Hardwicke, the director revealed that she wanted Kristen Stewart to portray Bella from the get-go. Hardwicke explained that she didn’t even pay attention to other actresses who auditioned for Bella’s role since she was dead-set to have Stewart portray the character. The director explained that the “Panic Room” actress’ performance in “Into The Wild” heavily influenced her decision. For Robert Pattinson, it wasn’t as smooth although Hardwicke did say she saw the actor’s charm from the beginning as well.
This is despite the fact that the “Good Times” actor went into his audition looking rather disheveled. Hardwicke also revealed her process of casting stars in her films, explaining that she wants to have the auditions done in settings that the movie would likely happen. As such, she had Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart audition in her bedroom at some point.
The director said that four different guys went to audition that day and by the end of it, she asked if Kristen Stewart who’s the best choice as she was finding it difficult to choose from the candidates. The “Lizzie” star previously said that she basically cast Robert Pattinson herself when she heavily pushed for the actor to play Edward. Judging by this revelation, it’s clear that the chemistry of both stars have already been established even before they became an official item in 2010.
