“Riverdale” Season 3 will feature several villains, a development that isn’t looking too good for the Fab Four and the rest of the folks. Following the story of the previous season, Archie (KJ Apa) is going to be fighting for his freedom as he’s been accused of murder contrived by Hiram (Mark Consuelos).
However, showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa said that this trial will conclude in the premiere episode of “Riverdale” Season 3, Cosmopolitan reported. This is a great decision given that courtrooms don’t provide a lot of tension for the show, with the series’ strength mostly coming from mystery and character development.
And speaking of mystery, a new villain is going to play an integral role in “Riverdale” Season 3 in the form of the Gargoyle King. Little is known about this upcoming antagonist but it’s believed he’s the leader of the cult known as The Farm.
It seems that Betty (Lili Reinhart) is going to be one of the characters who are going to shed light on this mysterious figure, a daunting task given how ominous the Gargoyle King has been portrayed so far. There are also stories out there that suggest the Gargoyle King is someone beyond the normal. Will there be a supernatural element in “Riverdale” Season 3?
While this is a possibility, the chances of it happening are remarkably slim. This is due to the fact that Sacasa has mostly stuck to realistic plotlines if previous seasons are anything to go by. And even though Halloween is just right around the corner, “Riverdale” Season 3 is highly likely not going to include a supernatural arc in its story.
However, “Riverdale” Season 3 will still have a lot of chilling and mysterious events unfolding given that The Farm will have heavy involvement in the upcoming installment. Sacasa will feature noir in the narrative, expanding from season 1’s murder mystery and season 2’s serial killer atmosphere. “Riverdale” Season 3 will debut on Oct. 10, with the premiere set to be added on Netflix the following day.
