‘Riverdale’ season 1’s episode 7, titled “Chapter 7: In a Lonely Place,” will follow Jughead as he struggles with his personal problems. Cole Sprouse, who plays Jughead in the series, revealed that his character will become more prominent as the series moves forward and explores his storylie.
The synopsis for “Chapter 7: In a Lonely Place” posted on TV Guide states, “The destruction of an important piece of evidence triggers new speculation as to whom murdered Jason (Trevor Stines); Things intensify when Jughead's (Cole Sprouse) father gets back into the fray, which reveals unsolved issues between him and Fred (Luke Perry).
Meanwhile, in the aftermath of her fight with Hermione (Marisol Nichols), Veronica (Camila Mendes) decides to take matters into her own hands; and Cheryl (Madelaine Petsch) makes an unexpected proposal to Betty (Lili Reinhart).”
It seems that Jughead will shift his focus from Jason’s ongoing investigation to his own problems close to home. According to Access Hollywood, the 24-year old actor revealed that his character will need to hurdle some difficulties considering his current living situation. Sprouse teased, “It gets so much rougher for Jughead -- just you wait.”
Sprouse continued, "You end up seeing a lot more of that narrative throughout the season," Cole continued, "Jughead, like his role in the town slowly but surely ramps up as a much more prevalent character throughout the season with his personal life being investigated really from Episode 7 onward and becoming one of the primary storylines, which… I think fans are really going to resonate with.”
He added, “But Jughead is this kind of Holden Caulfield, this tortured little youth, and I think people are really going to enjoy that."
Jughead is currently homeless following the closing of the drive-in he was living in. It was also revealed that his father (Skeet Ulrich) is a member of the Southside Serpents, a dangerous gang of criminals who reside on the southern end of Riverdale. The gang was hired by Veronica’s father Hiram Lodge to decrease Twilight Drive-In’s value so that he could purchase it for a lower price.
‘Riverdale’ season 1’s episode 7, titled “Chapter 7: In a Lonely Place,” is scheduled to air on The CW on March 9, 2017. It was directed by Allison Anders and written by Aaron Allen.
